Creating a yard!
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 9:51 PM
Hi! I'm creating a double-ended yard on my new layout (O-guage). Each track is a seperate block with a toggle switch. When the train enters or leaves going over the 022's it shorts out. All center rails are positive and the outsides are negative. What'd I do wrong. HHEELLPP!!!!!!!

Hi! Some questions: Are you using the fixed voltage plugs on the 022's? How about insulating pins for the automatic alignment feature? How (where) are the sidings powered?

More questions:

What kind of toggle switch did you use, and how many connections do they have?
Did you use insulating pins on the center rails at both ends of each track?
Do the trains run on the sidings, and short out only on the switches?
Does anything happen when you throw the toggle, or only when the train crosses the switch?

It sounds like a simple polarity reversal, but where and how.
