Atlas Switch (Alternative Switch Controller)
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, May 6, 2007 9:36 PM

Hello everyone,

Just curious if anyone is using some other type of switch to throw their Atlas switches versus the type that comes with the switches.

Thanks,

Jerry

Any single pole, double throw, spring-loaded center, momentary contact switch should work.  They come in standard and mini sizes.

For mounting the controls on a map, I have often recommended using studs and a grounded probe.

Thank you all...I'll look into alternative switch choices.  Any suggestions where to look?  Radio Shack?

The only draw back to using Radio Shack switches is that you will have to find some way to mount the Radio Shack switch.

Radio Shack is expensive. Best place to buy from are the online electronics stores. I usually buy from All Electronics(www.allelectronics.com) or Jameco(www.jameco.com) . A quick check of jameco's available switches showed at least 3 that would be usable for switch controls. Prices are reasonable, too: 1.99$ for 1-10; 1.85$ ea. for 10-100(p/n 75889) rated at 5 amps at 125VAC.  the other switches are priced similarly. Shipping(UPS ground) is 7$.
