Secondly, is it legal to replicate commercial truck frames for personal use?
So long as you aren't planning on mass production AND sale, this shouldn't be an issue.
Most modern metal truck frames have pockets for Delrin needle bearings.
I'm going to be purchasing some resin casting material that includes brass powders. One of several projects I have in mind is replicating truck frames to replace the Lionel plastic ones I have (I know I can purchase ready made metal frames).
Some questions.
In metal frames, are needle axles used? I know they are in plastic as the delrin acts as a fairly good lubricant. I'm guessing delrin or some other bushings are tucked away in metal frames.
THANKS!
here's a couple shots of my outside Lionel docksider rolling past some daisies ready to bloom with 2 scratchbuilt flats in tow, one of which I added gondola sides.
