Williams Trueblast 2
Posted by vbkostur on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 10:15 AM

I have The Williams NYC F3 and am impressed with it's performance. It has what I beleive is Railsounds?(horn, whistle, crewtalk, and engine noise). Is Trueblast 2 just the horn and bell? How does it sound? I was considering getting the 4-8-4 J Class NW but want to know if I will be adding sound myself. Thanks!

TB II is just a pre-recorded horn/whistle, and bell. The same horn or whistle sound pattern is made each time the sound button is pressed. Williams only flaw, in my opinion.

From what you describe the NYC F3 probally has the QSI sound board in it and is a few years old maybe like seven years old, some Williams dealers keep old stock and sell it as new with a price discount.  I have been in contact with Williams by email about repairing an F7 circuit board from about six or seven years ago, they said that they quit using QSI circuit boards.  So I just put a bridge rectifier in place of the circuit board, only drawback is that I lost reverse and nuetral but I didn't use it anyway. The sound board is in the unpowered B unit so I still have all the sounds.

The True Blast 2 is just whistle or horn or bell. No crew talk or engine noise with the new Williams.
