BTW, The plunger in the K-Line Mikado gets stuck in the cylinder frequently.  When it gets stuck the chuff sound stops.

Alt 9 turns on the smoke with TMCC.

Didn't you say it has TMCC.  Have you turned the smoke on from the Cab1?  To test:  I have a set of jumper wires [one black and one red with alligator clips on each end].  Hook one to the lead ging into the top of the smoke unit and to the center rail [or varible post of transformer].  Hook the other to the wire coming from the "grounded" side to the outer rail [or U on trnasformer].  Slowly apply voltage and watch for smoke.  If it does not smoke in a few minutes, my guess is bad element.

Yes it does have TMCC, I checked the wires and looked into the smoke unit,  the gell stuff by the heating coil was a little brown/black, is this normal?

Would you say it looks burnt ? I think they repack these with pink fibergass insulation. Let me see if I can find that link to repairing them !!

Thanks Smile [:)]

Alex I hope someone more knowledgeable comes to help, but till then you may want to try to set it on the track without the cab & boiler & see if you can find a wire that may have come off or do as much tracing of the wires as you can. They will aslo want to know if it's TMCC or DCS, (MTH). If it was working before you repaired the motor then something happened to it then, I think !!

Thanks, John

Oh, just noticed you said it is a K-line, so does it have TMCC ?

Hello, I just repaired the motor of my K-line mikado, but when I put it back on the tracks, the smoke unit wasnt working. It doesnt appear to be burned out though. Any ideas on what the problem might be?
