Well the new MTH train catalog is now online, and I can't believe my eyes. I am very happy they have decided to FINALLY make an Evolution diesel, and they're making one in my railroad, too - BNSF! I am so happy!
There are many other trains in the catalog as well, like new F40PH's, SD70ACe/SD70M-2's, Berkshires, and other things. This is the best catalog MTH has produced in years!
The Southern Pacific Husky-Stack and the Detroit & Mackinac Flat Car with Detroit Ford Police Cars look great. Why would Detroit Police Cars be on a Detroit & Mackinac Flat Car? Because the Fords were made in Canada.
The Rail King SD60 Diesel-Electric Locomotives are shown in Chicago & North Western and Burlington Northern paint schemes. The Burlington Northern SD60 looks great on-line. The CNW SD60 looks off because it is supposed to be Safety Yellow, or Zito Yellow. Only 2 of the many CNW SD60 Locos were painted in Traditional Yellow. The rest of the large fleet of CNW SD60s were painted a much lighter and brighter Safety Yellow that got lighter as the years passed. The road numbers are properly applied on the flat surface of the access doors in the Print version.

It would be great to get a General Electric Demonstrator ES44AC Diesel-Electric Locomotive model. I wonder if the ProtoSounds will be all new recordings of the real units. How fast will the GE Demonstrators unit be sold everwhere? If I wait too long will I miss them?

At least from last year, the products in the Volume II catalog will most likely ship somewhere from August this year to January 2008. With other GE engines MTH has made, I'm guessing (but I'm not sure) this engine will be available in September or October, maybe November. It is true, however, that if you wait very long after it is released it is hard to find them. For instance, only 7 dealers in the country now have the BNSF SD70ACe's that were only released about half a year ago, and they're probably gone from most of them now. It's probably best to pre-order the products from your local hobby shop, or pick up one right after they are released.
I'm happy too, but for a different reason. The L&NE L-1 Mikado is on order already. It is rare to see an accurate steam engine for a small road like this. The L&NE bought these from the Pennsy so they are just like the Pennsy engine. Now if they would do an accurate freight steamer for the CNJ, that would be great.
They have something for all of us in this one!
I am relieved that the Grand Trunk 100-Ton Hopper is a mutant copy of an approximation by Weaver Models. I already have the Weaver Models Grand Trunk ACF Center Flow 5250 Cu. Ft. 4-Bay Covered Hopper that has the markings of a Grand Trunk Western ACF Center Flow 4600 Cu. Ft. 3-Bay Covered Hopper. The GTW markings of the real hoppers were all RED. The added consolidated stencil was black & white. Thankfully the MTH Premier variation is so strange that I will not be buying it.
What is more appropriate for Grand Trunk Western collectors and operators is this Detroit & Toledo Shore Line Cylindrical Hopper.

Update: The Evolutions won't be shipping until January 2008, so we have plenty of time to get our orders in! It looks like MTH has started to put their newest products in the search engine, so all you have to do is click on the product, then click the "shipping" button, and it will say when it will be released.
