Hi! Today, I am seeking tender advice from you, the experts.
I would like to get a Lionel New York Central tender around the same size as my Polar Express tender.
If, by chance, you would have some advice or model number, I'd appreciate it. As always, many thanks.
Lionel doesn't currently offer that style tender in NYC livery. But they did recently (2006) offer a nice "mountain" style tender that is actually a great fit for the PE berk. The Post War Celebration Series 773 whistle tender is lettered for the New York Central. They can still be purchased from Lionel dealers. I know one in my area still has some. I think they run $45.00 or so. Back in the post war era, this type of tender was often paired with the 736 Berk, although the number then was 2046W.

Nice catch, Doug. Since he asked for Lionel, I didn't even think to mention the Williams tenders. These tenders have Trueblast II whistles and bells, as opposed to an air whistle or Train/Railsounds.
Another nice thing about the Williams tender is that you only need a whistle or bell button to activate it, NO TMCC or DCS needed!
