The Christmas Catalogue is up on the Lionel Site.

I ordered a Polar Express Trainsounds tender.

Let me know what you think! I was looking at the other tender with trainsounds for the PW locos, and the Merry Christmas Boxcar! Time to belly up for actually printing Merry Christmas!
Perhaps a video??
I've read mixed reviews on Trainsounds tenders. But I ordered one any way. If all goes according to the past, the tender won't be available till November. I don't want to think about Christmas until then!
I see they are offering the Christmas music boxcar again. I bought that last year. Pretty cool!!!

The North Pole Central is still there. The Mikados are a different offering. More up$cale.
Hi Folks,
That is a wonderful selection of Christmas things!!! I especially like the "tell-tail reindeer car" which looks like it operates just like the old giraffe car. Seems like this Christmas line can bring a lot of new people into the hobby.
Take care, Joe.

Hi,
Has anyone checked out the back cover? And are you going to order one?

I was going to, but now I'm not so sure. We'll see.
One item I found interesting is the G gauge Polar Express - run by remote control on rechargeable batteries, or C batteries!
I think "BB" must have snuck into the Lionel R&D office and left Dave's remote control train conversion plans behind...

This will be an interesting item. I spoke to a Lego Rep an an earlier show this year; Lego went this route, non-powered rails with batteries and remote, and most buyers found the battery life was too limited. I guess people really like to play with their trains.
Now people are trying to install metal rails that conduct electricity, like the earlier style, because Lego isn't making them...YET!
I am very pleased at Lionel's Polar Express TrainSounds tender idea. Hopfully I can get one when they come out. I like the idea of putting TrainSounds into train cars, turning virtually any locomotive into a TrainSounds locomotive. Another good thing is if the TrainSounds break, you still have your locomotive and perhaps an air whistle/electronic horn! This car will be nice to have.
I'm not quite sure why they went with a G scale Polar Express, though. It is even less expensive than the O scale version new. What was it, like $270? They're selling this set in the mid $100 range - it must be like one of those "New Bright" Christmas trains - battery powered with plastic track, that type of thing.
