I found some" Farm Implement Green" at Lowes. More like John Deere green. Used it on a automatic milk car stand. Not an exact match but pretty close for store bought. Good luck with your project and take lots of pictures for us.

I won an 045 gateman on ebay, and it will need to be restored.  Does anyone know if there is a close off the shelf match for the green Lionel used on accessory bases?  I have used Accessory Green Train Enamel in the past, but I didn't think it was a close match at all.  I saw that Duplicolor Engine Enamel is available in a color called Grabber Green, I might try it.  Does anyone know what the figure in the 45/045 is made of?  This one definitely has issues.  Here is a link to the auction:
