I went to their website to try and calculate what I would need for a specific track plan that I am considering among others. They have starter sets, but I cannot reconcile these with my specific plan based on a lack of info. Anybody use this and if so, what is the catenary span length? Also, what is your experience with this product? I looked at MTH but it looks pretty oversized...any other products outside of scratchbuilding as an option?

Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has.
Wally.. The Steel cat is a modular sytem. You basicly buy one conductor and one support for each track section. ( The exception is the 20" straight which uses one support for two "O" Gauge Straight tracks )
The Steel Cat is pure toy. first produced in 1995, it's pretty much intended for post war style electrics and is designed to actually supply overhead power.
If your going to York I'll be in the Orange Hall, Booth BB-04 with a working demo. The starter kits described are for tubular track.
Since it's been out a number of other more scale sized catenaries have come out. I believe one of these is demoed in the Brown Hall.
Feel free to e-mail or call the number on the website if you need more info
