I just can't seem to find a good DINER down here, no HOT PASTRAMI or CONOLIS, sorry I don't like catfish or grits....but a nice Buccala is tasty (it's fish, ITALIAN, look that up in yer Funk 'n Wagnalls!!)

PERCH is great (walleye family) done up in crushed up Ritz crackers and beer batter, deep fried and downed with afew 12ozers.  Always done this on the shores of the St. Lawerence River the Canadian side up at Summerstown, Ont. about 1 hr SW of Montreal.  We even took the train to Montreal and saw a baseball game.  Had the milk run on the way back.

Walleye are great eatin'!  I also like Northern Pike pan seered in a cast iron skillet with some honey butter!  MMMMMMMMMM... for a good fight you can't beat a Large Mouth or Muskey, but the longest fight I've ever witnessed was in 1991 when fishing with some friends off Rockport, TX.  It was getting around 3pm and time to head home (we hit a school of sea trout? around noon and had around 8 or so in the live well), when the one guy got a hit... think it was around 9pm when he finally boated the 32 inch red fish!  Talk about fine dining!  We were too tired to even think of bars and pool that night!  LOL!  Can't beat frying fish, drinking beer, and playing poker with the fellas!

Lots of found memories with that crew... too bad the Army broke up the fun...

You're right Buckeye, I did forget about the Walleye. And when you do come back here to the lake we can get some of those chicken wings.

Chief, I-81 is is about 3 hours east of here. Western NY hospitality is great and we'd love to see you in our part of the state.

I find it interesting that the Chief has been to PA and Ohio but he has never been up here in Western NY.  I believe he knows that grits cannot compete with chicken wings, battered fishfrys and beef on weck with horseradish.  I know that Buckeye knows all about these delicasies because he spends so much time here.   You know Chief, we could put together quite a feast for you...you might even forget all about grits for at least one meal!  Maybe we could even get you out on Buckeye's boat for a little fishing.

Tom, you forgot the WALLEYE.  Mmmmmmm, good!!!  For those of you who have never tasted Western NY Chicken Wings, they are the best.  I missed sitting at the bar in Bemus on a snowy winter evening eating beer and wings with Tom while talking trains.

The Reps at Bass Pro and Cabela's from Maryland say they are NOT Yanks.  They are Southerners.  HUMMMMM
