One thing to consider is that the availibility of K-line track is probably the track currently on hand.  Other than switches Lionel doesn't catalogue any K-line track.

I used Shadowrail extensively on a former layout. It's basically tubular track with extra ties and a blackened center rail. I thought it worked well and I would not hesitate to use it again. I had no problems with conductivity or sparking with the center rail. It should work fine with your CW80.

K-Line shadow rail track
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 6:54 PM

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering what some opinions are of K-Line's shadow rail track, and if it will work ok with my Lionel CW80 transformer. I recently put a K-Line engien on layaway and may be interested in some of the track as well. Thanks in advance,

PJ
