tortoise powered locomotive of sorts

tortoise switch machine used to power a "critter" during feasibility testing. Past the test, forward and back. 9V battery and dpdt switch attached. Removed the evil tooth'd stop on the side so get continuous motion. Runs well at slow speed and very quiet too.

That is neat, how long does it run on the battery.

Hi John,

Haven't timed it but judging from past experience with this, it should run all day. With rechargeable batteries, it would be a cinch to swap them out.

Bob Nelson's wheel pulling method worked flawlessley so I'll be powering some 3-rail critters as well, now that I can slip gears on axles. I found Loctate holds the plastic gears nicely, but as it adheres instantly, you have to slip them on fast.
