Ihave a lionel 8305 engine and tender the engine has a wire that connects to the tender that has sound of chugging. My problem is kinda strange when i first run the engine it chuggs as it should after it runs a while the chugging gets fainter untill it stops all together. The engine itself runs flawless just has me baffled.

Hello Bubba!   Check out the pickup Roller on the Tender. If it is the version where the Roller Rolls on a Strip of Copper as opposed to being mounted on a fixed axle, then this is the problem as it picks up dirt & oil from the Third Rail & interferes with the Sound of Steam. Solution? Contact Lionel or a Parts Dealer & order a New Pickup Roller Plate with a roller Mounted on a Fixed Axle (like later versions) & this will solve your problem. This happened with a 8305 my Brother had & I did what I suggested to you above & that took care of the problem. Take Care.

Hello Bubba!      You're very welcome for the help. The 8305 is a nice running Engine & are very reasonable in cost to obtain. Take Care.
