Proto sound and Proto sound 2
Posted by Steve 1055 on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 9:56 PM
I have an original Proto sound steamer and the chip scrambled because of a dead battery.  I bought the reset kit, followed the instructions, put in a new battery and it worked again.  My question:  Is this a problem with Proto sound 2 also, or has MTH fixed this?

Nope, not a problem with PS2, thankfully.

Proto I (QSI) used a battery to retain the boot program just as early computers did.  Proto II loads its program into Flash Ram just as Digital comeras do. The battery in Proto II is used to maintain sounds when running slow (low track voltage) in conventional mode and run the "shut-down" sounds.
