Marx Santa Fe No. 21 motor mounting

Yes, I just received it. I need the flat metal plate with the two slots on opposite ends. Looks like it could be easily made. Thank you very much for the help.

Okay middivrail, Rob has replied, he's not a member of this group . Following is what he said:

" If I read his description right, he's missing the upper swivel plate on the motor....  yes, there's a riveted plate in the top of the shell.  A square plate with two screw slots with one pivot screw that attaches directly in the center of the motor with a bushing step screw or whatever,  attaches to the rived plate.  Get me an email address if you can, and I'll send him a picture of mine with the motor removed so that he can see what's supposed to be there.  I hope he has a good holding screwdriver for putting those screws in the slots....  They can be an MFr...."

The rivited plate is attached to the body. What had me wondering is do the two screws all that hold the motor to the engine? That is surprising - I don't remember seeing it there but then again when you get older CRS strikes almost continuously. There is an excellent Marx repair manual available from Robert Grossman. Cheaper to buy it from him rather than through ebay. I think it's about $32 from him but unscrupulous money grabbers have listed it as high as $60 on ebay. It covers  the repair of all Marx engines along with good pictures. The 21 Marx has a chapter on it's own.

 Aren't the 2 screws you need to hold the swivelling plate on the top of the motor to the permanently riveted plate on the shell?.

Thats the first place I posted, no answers after two days, really surprised. Must be one of those unanswerable qyestions. Plus there is not as must information available as there is about Lionel trains on the web.

 I just purchashed A Marx Santa Fe AA No. 21 engine. The powered unit didn't come with the electric motor attached to the body. My question is what holds the electric motor to the body. The motor has the oval bracket attached to the top of it, and in the inside of the body up above where the motor would be is a sheet metal bracket. This bracket has two screw holes and a large hole in the middle of it. I contacted the Robert Grossman Co. and he said I needed part No. 193 which is a brass top mounted spacer, and a few screws.
