Fellow hobbyists,

Thanks for the replies.  I've looked at the MTH platform and it looks promising with some modification.  I'm absolutely going to look at your Steel El site also.  It sounds promising.  As far as the Frank website, I've seen it and was completely blown away.  The photos are the most realistic looking layouts I have seen to date.  The attention to detail was mind-boggling.  As a relative novice in layout building, there's no way I can approximate what he's done, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to have fun trying.  Thanks again, and please let me know if you get the rest of the project in gear.

Tom, I build a product called Steel El, see my website www.steeltoys.com . I also have a ground level and sectional Subway Platform. My plan was always to raise that station to El height.

However, the best laid plans... As it turns out the technical problems in producing the die work to elevate the existing station by normal means would require lots of time. So I've put an add-on for ground level Station on permanent hold. After York I'm buying a CNC Plasma cutter which should simplify the construction of the elevated subway platform.. How long it will take to get from my brain to an actual steel product is anybody's guess. In the meantime there's a hobbyist (I believe Joseph Franks) who is linked to NY Subway Club ( Again I'm not sure how close that comes) He has done some spectacular modelling in this area. I'm sure if you find his group by web search you'll pick up some great ideas.

The new '07 MTH accessories catalog shows their new "Elevated Station Platform" 13 1/2" x 5 1/2" for $29.95. It looks nice.

subway elevated station

I have been searching for an elevated subway station to approximately fit standard Lionel or MTH elevated trestles, similar to the NYC el.  I have some kitbashing ideas, but I also have hit some stumbling blocks.  Does anyone have some ideas on where to find such products(i.e., columns, elevated platforms, covered stairways, or complete kits)?  I would have thought that MTH would have come out with something by now since they are the primary producer of subway sets, but I have not seen anything close to what I need in any of their catalogs.  Thank you.
