i really like this loco as it will be given to my daughter when she gets old enough, but for now i will get a few more laps out of it before i put it back on the self and it want be used/ran until she gets to play with and put the consist on it that she wants to be on there. i do agree that this is really a well detailed loco. as i have not seen to many loco's even the one's that i have now with all the up to date tmcc. that have the hooks on it that are used to lift the loco for repairs. i will go and look one more time just to make sure that they dont have the hooks but i'm pretty sure they don't have them. it really would be nice if lionel came out with these engines in the paint scheme of norfolk southern, canadian national, and canadian pacific. if they did i will buy all three but with tmcc on them. again thanks

Sign - Oops [#oops] I did not read your reply...I am glad to hear it got fixed, they are very nicely detailed locomotives and I hope they will make the line up as lionel locos in the future. Sorry about the brain fart on my part.Sign - Oops [#oops]

Reggie, Check the other board that was suggessted, if memory serves me correctly the first set of instructions had an error in them but I don't know if that error applied to both versions or just one.

I think Davis Trains in Cincinatti is handeling the repairs of this locomotive and not lionel. Thats about all I can  contribute, most of the bad ones were TMCC equiped. Just for the heck of it try another transformer as cw80's act weired with some locos.

I also got a conventional SD70M and it cycles fine. ON the OGR forum there was posted an instruction sheet for the loco or may be you can get lionel/k-line to e-mail a copy of it I would think that even the conventional version would have a lock out switch for the reverse unit.

Hope this helps.

i have one of the new sd70's but it is conventional. i know how the work it and the cw80 transformer, but when i try to switch the direction on it to put in reverse it want switch or even want go into neutral. i know the cycle is forward, neutral, reverse, neutral and so on. is there something wrong with the engine, because when i put the polar express back on the track and go through the cycle it works fine. is there anyone else having this problem, and/or is there a switch on the control panel that i need to switch to get it to go through the cycle correctly. please help this is the engine that i'm going to give to my little girl when she gets older. i dont want it to have any problems once i give it to her. i'm glad i checked it to see if it works properly before she gets older. as i dont want to give her a engine that doesn't work and discourage her from liking trains.
