Hi Folks,
I have seen this mentioned before, but can't find the thread. Last night I had a traction tire failure on a Lionel handcar, and used a small black rubber band, sold in quantity for girl's/women's hair, as a substitute for the traction tire until I can get some actual spares. It was a package of at least 100 little black rubber bands. They are a little thicker and narrower than the handcar traction tire, but work fine for now. The package has all kinds of diameters, some too large for the handcar wheel. I bought them about 3 years ago for another project, from the Dollar Tree, and glad I had them on hand. I used a toothpick to slide it on and smooth it out. Don't know how long it will last, but nice to have in a pinch.
Thanks to whomever posted that tip!!!!!
Take care, Joe.
