Sounds like the typical Marx set. Nice  that it has the box. I have bought several in the box sets in the $50-75 range. They are great fun and seem to run for ever. It would be a wonderful gift for a train enthusiast as well as a nostalga buff. They have a classic toy look and wonderful lithography. Thanks for dropping into the forum.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Until the "Marx" people answer, try 'E-Bay'.  Sometimes you can get an idea of value from their postings.

Not to be a smart alleck but it is only worth as much as you are willing to buy it or sell it for. The days of trains being a monetary investment are pretty much over. To a collector of Marx it will be worth more to them then to some one who is into lionel or Flyer. can you post the numbers on the cars this will help in identifying them. There are a few Marx collectors here on this forum they will probably be of more help then I am.
