Have you tried loading it on Google.com video?  I've seen some VERY large video files there, and the screen size is much better than with youtube.com.

Thanks ATSJer !!  I didn't try Google this time But I'll try it now !!

Thanks fife - I am freelancing my butt off on this one.

It's not really a coaling tower, more like an add-on to the factory, on which I might install some winches to simulate unloading vertically. I probably violated so many regulations and prototype mumbo-jumbo with this it ain't even funny. Luckily, on my railroad, I get to make the rules - including building right over the right-of-way. I had missed it until I saw a number of references to it, so here is another in a long line of well deserved compliments:

as an aside - loved the music - if you don't like Take The A Train, you probably don't like ice cream either.

The train room has sadly been ignored now for several weeks for various reasons but after this week is over there will be more time to spend with the "toys". This is just a busy time of year for me and I'm ready for a free weekend or some free nights in general.

I do have a little over 100 little people I'm planning to populate our passenger cars with and I'm looking forward to having passengers in my cars. Hope I don't destroy any cars taking the tops off, I've never done that before.

Thanks for the compliments about the video, another one is being planned for the 2nd week in March with some new ideas.

Jon, fantastic video.  I have been waiting for you to get some more updated photos with all the work you and your bride did, but I think the video really brings it all together.  Thanks.  By the way, my bride is next to me and watched it too.  I think you have set the bar much higher for me.  Thanks to you and all the folks who have posted.

Buckeye,

If you have black electrical tape, just cut some into thin strips and use that to simulate the hold down straps.

Jefelectric, Thanks for the picture and description; it is really nice!  Let me see, if it is an American Flyer made by Lionel, I'm not really compromising my all American Flyer layout, am I? Whistling [:-^]

Thanks Laz !! That engine with all the smoke was my MTH 2-8-0 P & LE . The other engine was the Lionmaster Challenger. I forgot to turn the smoke on, on that one though it smokes pretty good, not like the other one. Videos are hard to make without help !! Plus, Downloading it on Photo bucket took over an hour. It wouldn't load on You-Tube !

Good one on Otis Redding !! Laugh [(-D]

Hello All:

Here is a late addition.  I modified a small wooden table that will serve as home to my transformers, electric switches, control panel, etc.

It's been a long time since I've taken any photo's of the layout but I do have this video that my son and I made in December that several of you have seen. For those that haven't taken a look, you might enjoy it. Turn up your speakers and enjoy.

John (Jefelectric)

The Lionel K4 is a semi-scale engine I have had for a few years.  It is smaller than the K-Line scale K4s but not by a lot.  When I first saw the two engines side-by-side I didn't think Charlie's engine was a full scale engine.  I also have two of the K-Line scale K4s engines but had never had the Lionel next to either of them.  I really thought my scale K4s engines were longer.

Blue Comet Train Set
Sometimes seen racing airplanes en route along the edge of the ocean, the New Jersey Central Blue Comet holds a near mythical status among railfans and railroaders. The train only ran from 1929 to 1941 when relentless competition from the Pennsylvania Railroad and massive proliferation of the automobile brought a premature end to the "Symphony in Blue."
An add-on heavyweight passenger car 2-Pack is available separately.

SET INCLUDES:
Pacific locomotive and tender, baggage car, two coaches, observation car
LOCOMOTIVE FEATURES:
Lionel LEGACY Control System equipped-able to run in Command Control Mode or in Conventional Transformer Control Mode with most American Flyer and Lionel transformers
RailSounds 5.0 sound system with custom recorded effects including:
Multi-part CrewTalk dialog and TowerCom announcements to create realistic operating scenarios, from pulling out of the yard to initiating an emergency stop
Realistic operator-controlled effects, including the water injector
DynaChuff synchronized chuffing that shifts through 15 levels of intensity as the locomotive gains speed
Simulate the locomotive running light or battling against a heavy load by manually adjusting the DynaChuff intensity level
MultiWhistle effect simulates blows at different steam pressures, long and short attacks, and even extra quilling with each press of the whistle button
Independently adjustable volume control-use your Remote Controller to lower the level of background effects such as chuffing, while keeping operator-controlled effects such as the whistle at full volume
Many operator-controlled effects, including CrewTalk dialog and TowerCom announcements, are accessible using only a conventional transformer
Powerful maintenance-free motor with momentum flywheel
Wireless tether connection between locomotive and tender
Directional lighting with operating headlight and back-up light on rear of tender
Illuminated classification lights on front of locomotive
Die-cast metal locomotive body, frame, pilot, and trucks
 Traction tires
 Operating smoke unit
 Separately applied metal details
 Accurate separately applied builder's plates
 Illuminated cab interior
 Engineer and fireman figures
Die-cast metal tender body and trucks
PASSENGER CAR FEATURES:
 Die-cast metal trucks
 Metal frame
 Window silhouettes
 Interior lighting with ON/OFF switch

Good idea.  I have seen some real narrow tapes in the LHS that I think they use for masking.

Highrail Jon, love the MTH weathered station.  How did you do the weathering?

Great photos and a variety of subjects, which makes it much more interesting.

Here are a few:

Ready to try and hop the Santa Fe:

New York Central pulling up to the loading dock:

and around the corner with a 726 in the background on the upper level:

lots-o-lights:

This project has been my backbreaker - last structure I need to finish before I can finish the top level:

Am using plasticstruct angles and straights to define the floors, which will be represented to be concrete pillars and slabs, with brick work between floors.

Got one side done, and will be glad to get this step finished.

Added 1/8 styrene frames around the windows, which provides a better fit.

Got them painted and placed, and finished the concrete trim up the left side:

Although not evident in these photos, all twelve windows - six on this add on structure and six on the main building - all have crosshatch "bars" in teh windows. What a pain that was:
