For starters, the Olsen Toy website at the following address will get you an overview of the 252 exterior and parts.  Just scroll down the list until you find the 252 locomotive.

If you want the motor, try any prewar Lionel catalogs between 1926 and 1935.  I remember one of the early 1930s catalog has a pretty good picture with labels of the motor.   The other possibility would be in the Greenberg reference manual entitled "Repair and Operating Manual for Lionel Prewar Trains".  I'm not at home right now, so I can't scan these images, but I'll try when I get home later in the week.  However, I'm sure someone else will come through for you before then.

Does anyone have an exploded diagram of a Lionel 252 electric,or know where I can get one.
