Sekon,
I also have the NYC version purchased from Justrains. There was also a problem with irratic chuffing when the smoke unit was turned on. In case you experience this problem the solution was pretty simple, just the insertion of a Radio Shack diode in the wire leading to the smoke unit. If you experience this problem the repair directions were posted on the OGR Forum back in Feb 2006.

Skip,
I'm having a similar problem with my KCC Semi Scale Hudson with cruise and fan driven smoke unit. Would you be able to e-mail the instructions on how to add the diode. I like the engine a lot but the cruise control has some quirks I haven't figured out yet. Hopefully, adding the diode takes care of the chuff problem.
Thanks.
Bob
Chris,
Check your e-mail. I sent you a copy of a word document that I created from the posting on the OGR Forum of Feb 27, 2006. Hope this helps.
A gorgeous locomotive! Best of luck with it.

Thanks Roy for taking the time to reply. I actually got mine from Just Trains also. Glad to hear that the firebox glow and lit cab are typos, although it would have been nice all the same if it had these.
My engine is running on a flat loop, pulling no cars, and even with 2 traction tires seems to be scidding a lot on the rails. Maybe it will even out with more running.
Thanks again! Sekon56
I have the NYC version. Mine runs fine. Just went out to check it as I did not recall it having firebox or cab lights and it does not. Great sound.
Make sure you have put a drop (very little) of oil on the mechanism and run it a bit. If it does not smooth out you may need to talk to the shop you bought it from. I know that Just Trains where I bought mine are great folks and have a lot of experience with these locos since they bought a lot of the K-Line stock and had to deal with all levels of support since K-Line went under.
Regards, Roy
