Does anyone else collect Marklin Maxi Trains?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 29, 2007 4:41 PM
Greetings,  I am a collector of the Marklin Maxi 1/32 trains produced from 1994 to 2004.  I am trying to find out if there are any other collectors or possibly a club that deals with these trains to discuss them/buy, sell, trade, etc....  I am also interested in purchasing pieces I do not yet have or even whole collections.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thank You,  John

YYou may want to post in the Garden forum as well as they are large scale,I thought about getting some once, I take it they are no longer making 1/32 scale trains?

The all metal Maxi line is discontinued because it was not very popular.  It ws intended for Marklin collectors to use when they anticipated rambuctious play from youngsters so their fine and very expensive pieces would not be damaged.  It very similar to the way LGB has the Lehmann line.  Marklin does still produce very nice trains in gauge 1, 1/32, but they are way out of my range.

From the ad I saw long ago it looked like the Maxi line had a lot of play value as well as a tinplate charm to them. I would start with the Marklin website and see if there are any links to clubs or try google or ask jeeves and see what is out there.Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forums.

I have a good number of Marklin Maxi locomotives (mostly) and am considering thinning my collection to a significant extent.  Most are new in box and have never been run because, living in an apartment, I just don't have the space.  And, I'll be using my LGB outdoors once I do move again.  Contact me by e-mail if you might be interested.  My MAXI is a mix of European style and U.S. style stuff.  Great trains, with that traditional tinplate look to them.

I think you will find several user groups on yahoo. I don't have any of the Maxi myself but I am interested because I have some prewar gauge 1 Marklin.

I replied to your e-mail yesterday, but you apparently didn't receive it. Contact me directly at almiller@vt.edu and be sure to include something relevant in the subject line so it doesn't go the way of the 100 or so junk mails I receive each day.

@underworld, does the word "spamfilter" ring any bells? It reduced my junkmail to about 2 or 3 a dayBig Smile [:D]

daan I have a spam filter....sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't. I used to get 200 or more per day, not everyday but many days. Now it is common to get 100 or a little more.

I collect Maxi trains and catalogs. Still looking for the 2006 circus car to complete my circus set. Is Marklin back in business? I've heard someone is making the reproduction clockwork trucks and boats again. Are they going to start making Maxi again?

Would somebody post some pix of these trains and track? I've never heard of or seen them.
