Another vote for the Doyle book.  Also, Greenburg had books out on cataloged and uncataloged sets.

David Doyle has a good book on postwar O-Gauge.  There is a section in the back of the book that lists the sets and the numbers of the loco and cars in the sets.

I highly recommend Doyle's book. Super resource to have!

Only in some passenger sets are the car numbers likely to be in order.  Freight car numbers were assigned (mostly) according to the type of car.  A relatively small number of freight cars were produced at any one time and a variety of assortments were made for the different set types.

I found a few pieces of Post War rolling stock and thought it would be fun to complete the sets that they came from.  Can anyone explain how the number sequence works for the sets.  I was under the impression that the numbers for cars werent always in sequential order.
