It would probably be easier to spring for $100 TMCC controller and then convert the unit to TMCC.  You could then use the TMCC remote or add the cable so the DCS remote could run it.

Among other problems DCS will only drive a can motor and also there is no flywheel to attach a reader tape.

Can a person convert a Lionel 1666 to DCS? If you have an empty tender, can you install the board there? Is this possible and does anyone know the parts needed and where they can be obtained? Thanks much, Jake
