Does any one have any experience with the tech IV 60 watt transformer advertised in Charles Ro's Advertisments? I just have a small loop with manual turnouts and a couple of post war steamers-2026 & 671. I also have a starter set 4-4-2 and a MTH loco sound diesel. Does anyone think this transformer would handle these? The price is right for my wallet at this point in time. Thanks
Bruce
If you stay away from lighted passenger cars you should be okay. The postwar Lionels and the General will draw less current so you should be fine.If the MTH has sounds and cruise you will have to be carefull as this engine draws more juice by itself. As long as you don't overload the trains(too many cars) I think you'll be fine. You can always use this transformer later to run accessories or lights so it won't be a waste of money in the long run.

Always good to be able to try it out! I don't know about the power output but the Tech transformers are absolutely awesome!!! I have an old Tech II, I think form the late 70s, that I take to shows to use to test things. If it will provide the power that you need, I think you will find it to be a great transformer.

Like Ed mentioned you will better off with a higher watt transformer as 60 watts is a bit low for a transformer, try 100 watts or higher and you should get plenty of power.
I have a post war ZW and a KW both are very powerful and run two or more trains at once.
