My haul at the Big E
Posted by HopperSJ on Saturday, January 27, 2007 6:25 PM

Took the family up to the Big E today for the Amherst Railway Society show. Lots of stuff again this year!. Went with a specific list of items needed for further work on my 6x8 layout and came away very happy. Here's what I brought home:

Lionel Illuminated Station Platform (NIB but from a few years back)

pair of MTH Railking crossing flashers w/ sound (NIB)

postwar 164 conveyor log loader in great looking condition

KLine "Mainline" illuminated logging company building (NIB)

All this for only $110 bucks. I thought that rocked. I brought it all home and it seems to all work perfectly except the log loader which will need a little TLC (I'll post that in a separate thread). Anyway, I had to share my joy over my new toys with someone!

By the way, out of everything that was there, my kids each spent there own money on wooden Thomas and Friends locos as well as specialty pieces for the wooden track. At 7 and 10 they still love to take down and set up new thomas layouts as often as they can. They can't ge tinto the "big" layout yet. Some day...Sigh [sigh]

You did a lot better than I did. I spent most of the day checking out all of the displays, and didnt get to go to too many vendors. My friend and I brought our kids, so the only toy I got to take home was a new wooden Thomas and Friends car. My daughter was happy and had fun thuogh, so that matters more than me getting something new. I'll have plenty of opportunities for that.

You got some great deals!!! No train shows around here today, but I did go to an antique show and picked up an original plaster gargoyle that was used to make molds for production models.
