Train Movie Alert!!!
Posted by Kooljock1 on Monday, January 22, 2007 3:01 PM
Tuesday evening, 8PM, January 23rd:

TCM is showing "Danger Lights". This is part of their Tuesday Jean Arthur series.

Danger Lights, along with "Emperor of The North" is just one of the very best train movies ever shot. It was filmed entirely on-location in 1930 on The Milwaukee Road.

You'll see cab scenes, shop scenes, wreckers at work, and even a working Dynamometer Car!

Please try to ignore the way the engine class and number changes in the film's final minutes....

Thanks for the heads up!  I love TCM.  I just recorded "The High and Mighty."  I love the scene where the little kid uses his cowboy pistols on the plane.  I would like to see that happen today...Big Smile [:D]

I didn't pick up the locomotive number change; but I did notice that the Roman letter "M" under the cab window appears several times as a mirror image, and otherwise not.

Somewhat off topic, but they recently showed "The Godfather" on TMC, and Lionel trains actually appear in that movie. Early on when Michael and Kay are doing Christmas shopping, they stop in front of a store window. In the window is a full Lionel train set, running around the track - and at a high rate of speed, I might add. It was neat to see; I'd never noticed it before.

Thanks Kooljock1!

I am a huge fan of Emporer of the North and had never heard of Danger Lights.  Watched it last night and really enjoyed it!
