The RMT hopper appears to be from the old Kusan mold, not to be confused with the old Marx mold. The Kusan mold was smooth-sided, the Marx was ribbed-sided. The Kusan hopper has had manually-operating hatches since Kusan issued the cars in the 1950s. Tooling for a hatched cover does exist, the addition of which turns the hopper into a covered hopper.

What else did Kusan-Marx produce?

I think I saw a Gondola.

If the gondola is made I hope that it will be released in Chicago & North Western schemes.

What is seriously missing from the Traditional O-27 Line of cars is a Fruit Grower's Express 50' Insulated Boxcar or similar FGE 50' Mechanical Refrigerator Car. The FGE Reefers have been around for decades and have featured the schemes of many railroads. It is a great car to invest in for O-27.

These look like they will be really nice & would look great behind my new Atlas steamer when I finally get it, though they are not a modern era car, not that I would care !! These are going to be nice !!

Just curious, if these are the 2 bay coal hoppers, would 9.5 inches be close to O scale as opposed to 027?  The price is rather reasonable for 2.

The Wheeling and Lake Erie 2-Bay Hopper is the one that modern O Gauge Operators should seriously consider.

Ready-Made-Toys has not yet made a Chessie System Caboose and Walter could make a Chessie System 2-Bay Hopper. The Chessie BEEP was a limited edition, so far.

Patience, Brian! I'm confident Walter will expand on the roadname offerings in due time. I would assume he's just using some tried-and-true names to start out with.  I can't imagine he'll overlook the roads you mentioned (several of which interest me, as well).

Hard to completely say from the graphics, but they do to me look very very similar to the K-Line 6200-series off-set 2-bay hoppers. Like the very well known Penn Central one from the KCC.

But DANG, to quote another well-known train lunatic... not one single class A modern road name in the lot. Funny how these new train items keep popping up, along with new catlalogs (I'm sure Lionel will not do any better)... and how it makes me glad I've done so much repainting.

To think after all these years, and I'd still be waiting for some train cars in Conrail, CSX, NS, BNSF, CNR etc. Unbelievable! I remember someone many years ago saying to me (when I first started to repaint) I'd be sorry I've done so much repainting as all the cars I was making would soon be made.

MAN, were they DEAD WRONG!

Incidentally, that Navy Yard Caboose they have is S...W...E...E...T. I have to get one of those. Look at the location of the Navy Yard- Pearl Harbor. Nice touch.

I was very impressed with the RMT caboose.

I see that the coal loads in the hoppers will be removable. Nice! Adding covers like Williams does would be a nice touch.

I'm hoping to see either a B&A or a NH State of Maine box car.

I'm very happy with my first BEEP, a Lehigh Valley model with caboose.  The caboose features lighted side mounted lanterns and a figure for the rear platform. RMT seems to make a very good product.

Didn't know that RMT has a catalog but I guess as time went on it was bound to happen.  I like thier Buddy Rail Diesel Cars, just a bit smaller in length than regular O gauge passenger cars and very detailed for the money, have lights at both ends and you can even turn off one set of lights for a two unit hookup.

I saw that as well. I'm anxious to see them, but they aren't due to be released until this summer. So expect them for Thanksgiving. RMT has really branched out of late with cabeese, Peeps, Beefs, figures, and now freight cars. Let's not forget their "catalog" either.

Personally, I dig their B&M caboose!

I wonder where he picked up the tooling(kusan and marx?) from?
