Lionel Semi Scale K4 Railsounds

It was the cw-80 transformer, I need to test it with other power sources.  Since this thing sat in its box for 6 years I wonder if that makes the electronics a little glitchy.

I noticed the random whistle when using a CW-80 running in conventional. I had the volume turned down, so I didn't notice any other sounds. Everything seems normal when running with a 135 watt powerhouse (with the rest of the command gear) in conventional.

I've never tried to run mine in transformer mode. In command mode it is a smooth runner, great smoker, and good looker. Looks great pulling last year's PRR Baby Madison cars with the detailed interiors.

Even better when you add figures.

I added TAS/EOB to mine for even better performance, and she'll maintain perfect speed for hours around curves and through switches.

The newer Baby K4 has crew figures and a different whistle, but is mechanically the same.

I got my K4 for Christmas from my wife and most everything is great.  The engine runs great but the railsounds are very random and the whistle blows every two seconds regardless if I push the whistle button or not, this is in the transformer mode.  I have not run the engine in TMCC mode yet.  Is this common on the vintage 2000 Command engines and is this an easy fix for my lionel service shop? All my other (4) command locos run and work perfect in the transformer mode so this is new to me.  Any advice?  Thanks,  Jim
