G gauge

Does anyone else here model G? I have been to the Garden Railways forums and all of the other ones. They are very nice, but I like to make as many friends in the hobby as possible.

Dave Vergun (FJ and G) doesn't do G; but he does have an amazing outdoor 2-rail O-gauge toy-train layout using radio control and batteries.

Sure, I model G (Large Scale), and have for years. It's one of my favorite model railroading scales, and I even wrote a garden railroading book. That said, I don't often discuss Large Scale on this forum because there are several other forums devoted to that scale of trains (multiple scales, actually).  Most folks here are O gauge enthusiasts, along with some S gauge fans, and I figure there's enough to discuss in either of those scales to keep things very active.

If Large Scale is what you really like to discuss, and if making new friends who share your interest is a goal, I imagine you can find more friends than you can possibly handle on forums such as the "Garden Railways" magazine forum, the www.MyLargescale.com forum (probably the most active), the www.LargeScaleCentral forum, along with a few others.

I have 3 battery op G scale sets and a few bachman large scale cars I got at a discount store that is no longer around. Have not setup track outside yet but is on my to do list.

 

I am a operator/collector in S O G & 0n30

I also run G gauge.  As Allan points out, in addition to the Garden Railways forum on this site, there are a couple of others forums like mylargescale.com where all things pertaining to large scale are discussed.

Welcome aboard Matt.  I do both G and O.  I don't have enough room indoors for a decent sized O layout, not a problem outdoors!  I like the look of large scale plus having real vegetation, rock, etc at my disposal!  Once the PA winter season starts to kick in, I am ready to settle back in to O.  Live steam is yet another dimension of outdoor railroading!

Primarily O Scale, but currently in the process of suspending 2 G scale tracks suspended from the ceiling.  Maybe consider running some track around the perimete of the back yard later this year.  Our G scale includes The General Mogul and 4 cars, Heisler and log cars, and a German Christmas train.  I did pick up some sound units and will be installing them later this year.

I have the Lake George 0-4-0 set for under the Christmas tree.

Also have a Bachmann 2-6-0 that needs help and an Aristocraft FA-1.

Have not convinced my better half that a garden railway would fit nicely in our back yard.

Welcome to the forum!!! I have some Marklin gauge I  3-rail. It's the same as G gauge but it's

3-rail AC operated. It's 1/32 scale, a bit smaller than most G equipment. Marklin still makes a gauge I but the newer stuff is 2-rail DC operated.
