At the Target where I work they're on clearance for $174.98. I don't know how many, if any, sold but there are around 8 sets on the shelve. One of the problems I see is that the Lionel set is a high priced item, was selling at $249.99, for the type of store Target is and probably beyond the affordability of most of the clientel. That money would buy quite a few of the other toys or cover a good part of the cost of an Xbox, etc. that are more in demand by today's kids.
that set is on clearnce for $179, I bought one saturday. Before christmas they have the polar express set as well, it's a nice set with a 2-8-2 loco.
I hope they sold well, maybe target will sell more. It has been some time since a dept store sold Lionel trains.

I was wondering if the "Target experiment" was a success or not. No Targets in my area so I can't give any feedback.
