269E Tinplate set question?
Posted by 1688torpedo on Friday, December 29, 2006 8:10 PM
Hello All!   I have the 269E Tinplate set on order & paid for from the Trading Post in Cleveland. My Question is has anyone seen the 269E around or has it been shipped yet? (I checked Lionel's revised schedule & the set is supposed to be out this month) Lionel is of no help either as they seem to be tight lipped about this particular train for some reason. Any sightings yet? Thank you & take care.

This same question (and frustration) has been raised on the OGR Tinplate Trains forum.  The only consistent answer everyone was citing from Lionel dealers was that "they don't know when", which only meant that it was not going to make it in December.  Lots of shared frustration.   This is the only part of the hobby that I really really dislike.  I think Lionel and MTH really need to recognize how unprofessional and frustrating it is to have them miss a published release date, then offer no guidance as to when we can realistically expect the products we ordered.  OK, I'll get off my soapbox now.  I know this-I'm grateful for this and other forums because I know as soon as someone, somewhere gets their 269e, it will be posted same day, so stay tuned.

Hello All!   Just found out today on the other Forum that Lionel has shipped out the 269E Set & that it is made just like the original with a Mechanical E-Unit & Three Pole Motor as well. The only Electronics in this Train are for the Trainsounds system housed in the Tender. All in All I'll be very happy when this shows up at the Trading Post & another thing mentioned was that the Box the Train comes in is labeled: "Prewar Celebration Series" Sounds like more good things to come from Lionel this next year. Happy New Year to all.Smile [:)] Take Care.
