I will go to Home Depot tomorrow and pick up some of that wire Mike.  The grandkids will be thrilled that they can once again run the log loader, coal loader, and uncouple cars without standing on the table.

Yep, you really need to mark the wiires on both ends. I just did this to my door layout for my nephews on a post further down. I use alarm 4 conductor cable available at HOme Depot. It's cheap and works well.

Yes,but do one wire at a time so they don't get mixed up.

I have several Lionel 0-27 6-12746 remote control tracks with attached USC Controlers.  Is it possible to lenthen the cable by just splicing in extra wire at any point in the existing cable?
