Hello. I have a train kit my dad was going to put together someday his whole life. He never got to it and now I am going to......... maybe, maybe not.
Can anyone tell me more about it? What is it worth?
Its an engine and coal tender, brass, lots and lots of little pieces. It is also in the original boxes, about 5 boxes total. It is a scale models inc.
I know one of you know all about this train.
Thanks
Jim
Jim, First, welcome to the forum! I would like to help you with your question, but we will need more information. I suspect your model may be HO scale, but it is possible it is O. Post any information on the box and we can take it from there. If it is HO, another board would be able to be of more assistance. If it is O scale, then you should be able to find your answers here. Either way, you are welcome to join us as this is a very friendly and helpful forum.

Thanks dennis, definatly o gauge, I have some ho stuff and this is huge. I am taking some pics tonight and will be posting them If I can.
Thanks Jim
Great, the photo posting can be tricky. Note Bergie's post at the top on how to do it. Look forward to the pictures.
Dennis
I have the pics, but cant post them here because I dont know how. I can email them if anybody is interested in seeing it.
The box says "Scale craft working TRAIN MODELS by Scale models incorperated
1516 wabash ave Chicago, Illinois
It appears to be a model number.
SEC 5 sp p 13 loco kit
k-1462/h5
All 4 boxes are "sp p 13" then a different part number.
The locomotive is brass with an electric motor. The coal car looks and feels like cast aluminum.
I sure would like help Identifying this train and am curious as to its value, in kit form and completed.
Thanks Lee. The kit is open. Someone before my dad started some assembly. The house is soldered to the boiler and some of the brass sheet metal stairs have been soldered together but thats about it. The decal packages say o guage. Is standard gauge the same as o gauge? Can I mesure in between the wheels and tell for sure? How would I get a hold of Invfocus?
I believe those are Scale Craft, 2 rail, O Scale craftsman kits. Do an internet search on Scale Craft. Also, check out E-bay. You might even find photos of what you have.
You might try posting your question on the Model Railroad Forum. You're more likely to find someone over there that can give you more information.
Thanks Guys. No engines on ebay. I will try the other forums.
I went through all the boxes, looked at all the little pieces, and have decided I will never put this together, so I am considering selling it.
Any rough idea what it might be worth? $100? $1000 I have really no idea, and I got a guy wanting to buy it. He said he would make me an offer today, and I have no clue what ballpark its in.
Any rough idea????
Thanks again
