Questions on the TMCCII Legacy system
Posted by Deputy on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 4:50 PM

#1 Will it operate MTH locos like the MTH DCS operates TMCC locos?

#2 Will it operate TMCC locos and accessories?

#3 Anyone buy one yet or have they not shipped from Lionel?

#4 Will they display SMPH on the LCD screen?

I've already seen them for $242. I am not all that crazy about the CAB-1 controller. Guess I'm spoiled by the LCD screen on the DCS controller. Also the display of SMPH is pretty neat on DCS.

#1  No it will still operate them in conventional via a TPC or such.

#2 Yes

#3 Has not shipped.  Last I heard was Feb.

#4 It will not.  It will read speed steps...200 for Legacy Equipped engines.

For more info go to www.coilcouplers.com  and head to the news section.  Lot's of good info.

4. I think it will display 1/2 scale MPH so you will have to divide by 2.

MTH has a patent on Scale MPH

From the coilcoupler website

http://www.coilcouplers.com/hirail/hirail00.shtml

Speed can be monitored by the speed graph, in speed steps, or with dedicated railroad standard commands which truly model railroad standard speeds. The speed resolution is highest in the industry, resulting in smoother running. If LIONEL were to show smph, the reading would be in 1/2 scale mile per hour increments."

So now I am wondering if TMCCII will be compatible with DCS?

It will operate the same way that TMCC1 does.  The new remote has two LCD displays, the second one is actually a touch screen that is context sensative to whatever you are controlling.
When everything else fails, play dead
