MTH Catenary Set?
Posted by phillyreading on Monday, December 18, 2006 2:57 PM

I was thinking about adding the MTH Catenary set to my layout, is this a good thing or not?

The number is 40-1035 8 piece set, and 40-1036 4 piece add-on set.

Would I need to buy the Catenary hardware set too?

Too oversize and too pricey for my tastes. Looks best with Standard Gauge or #1 gauge, but my impression is that it looks a bit too "clunky" for O gauge. But if you like it and can afford it, give it a shot!

I have a couple of sets, but have never taken the time to install them.  Neil Besougloff wrote a good article in the December 2002 CTT describing how to modify it for a more scale look.  Also has a lot of good installation tips.  I keep this copy with my catenary.  Maybe this winter after the holidays I will get started.

There was a tread on this subject a couple of years ago.

Thanks John, It helped a little but still the question to be answerred is what is needed for the catenary set to work? Do you need the accessory hardware or not? PS Having a little trouble with the site! Lee F.
