K-line Manual for F59PHi Diesel w/TMCC & Smoke (Sounder)
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, December 10, 2006 12:23 AM

I'm wondering if anyonce can help me obtain operating instructions for this diesel (K-Line F59PHi Diesel w/TMCC & Smoke,  Sounder, manufactured 2004,  Product #K24336-3003TC, TMCC & Smoke) I just bought one used and it didn't come with manual. I'm operating it on a standard Lionel set-up without TMCC. I've got it running fine but am just guessing on the setting of the switches. Also I've never run K-Line before so would like info.  on smoke system etc. I've emailed Lionel but am still waiting to hear from them. Anybody with a manual for this type of K-Line diesel who can help? I appreciate the help! Thanks

Heard from Lionel as to whether they would have manuals and this is their reply : "Lionel does not have any manuals or parts for K-line product that was manufacture by the K-line company." I have to admit this kind of bothers me, specially the bit about parts. I'm a relative novice in this hobby and I do understand that a lot has been going on with Lionel with the MTH problem, but still, I'd expect more from Lionel than this crappy response. I think when you take over a company you could at least pretend that you care about that company's previous products. But that's only my opinion.

So, I'm still wondering if anybody out there can email or mail me a copy (if it's by mail, I'll gladly send a stamped and self-addressed envelope). Failing that how about info on switches. As I said above, I'm running on a Lionel CW80:

1. PGM vs RUN (I assume PGM is program, but what does running them on each do?)

2. SS vs RS (I'm assuming it's RS is Rail Sounds, but what's SS? Can't be Silent Sounds!)

3. CRUISE, On or OFF (what is cruise?)

4. SMOKE 0n or OFF,  I understand this, But is it the same as Lionel? 4-6 drops etc.?

With all my Lionel Engines there is a switch for Direction or No direction, i.e. if you want it not to cycle to neutral when you idle right down. No switch like this on this engine. Is that just the way of TMCC engines or is that a K-Line thing?

Finally, are there any special things I need to know about K-line when it comes to lube points etc. or is it the same as lionel.

I sure appreciate any help here!

Ron

On my K-Line, the TMCC commands are the same as for a Lionel.  Makes sense when you realize that the TMCC inside of the K-Line was licensed by Lionel.

Download a Lionel Diesel instruction sheet from the Lionel website.  The TMCC commands should all be listed.  Try this:  http://www.lionel.com/products/productnavigator/InstructionManuals/75-2347-250.pdf

On the CAB-1,

Alt 8 - Turns off smoke.

Alt 9 - Turns on smoke.  (And in the case of my new Lionels, it fills up the room.)

Cruise is the same as Lionel Odysseys

SS is Signal Sounds, RS is Railsounds

When you program an engine, you set the switch to PGM.  When you are running the engine, after programming, set the switch to RUN.

I hope this helps.

Hey Ron,

We actually do have a K-Line F59PHi Diesel with TMCC and Cruise.  If you send me your address, I can make a copy of it and mail it to you...

Cheers!

Ron,

If you still need the manual, I can email it as a PDF (I have the MetroLink version).

I was a big fan of the product that K-Line put out in their later years, even some of the K-Line by Lionel. But their documentation, Owner's Manuals, were very marginal at best. Everything seemed like it was very generic, one manual for diesels and one for steam.
