Shay O scale
Posted by Fred Bear on Saturday, December 9, 2006 12:18 PM
I'm going to buy an O scale Shay type engine, tender, etc. In O scale, what appears to be the best bang for the buck? I like the style with the working gears on the side such as can be seen on Cass Scenic Railroad on the Shay's they have there. Any ideas? Thanks for any help, Jake

The link worked fine! Thanks a bunch. What about the Bachmann O scale shay? Anyone run one of these or have any experience with them? Thanks, Jake

I have the Lionel West Side Lumber Shay from from around 2000.  This is a very detailed scale loco with command and railsounds also runs at scale speed (slow).  This loco is around $700 - $900.  It is a beautiful loco, articulated and geared just like the prototype very cool to watch run, very animated.  Best of Luck
