I forgot to say on the post today....
As you can see we really "get into" our trains.
Building a 25” long boxcar for my 7/8n2, representing a 22’ long shorty boxcar
As for my 7/8n18, which runs on O gauge track, I built a (sorry for banned words) flatcar based on prototypical photos on handlayed track.
The entire car is made from a single Lionel truck. The axleboxes are actually the trucks cut into 4 pieces and nailed to the wood from. Using link and pin couplers, with the link coming from Lowe’s (AGR Test #41 offset link, replacement part).
Due to all the great advice I received this week concerning the feeding and care of an RMT BEEP, it was put on the front end of AMTRAK 805 as it left Roger's Corners, Ohio. It's next assignment is to pull about 100 hoppers full of Ohio coal to Roseyville, NC.
Work is continuing on the Christmas layout at the museum. The one outside loop now is expanded to the other leg.
