Just discovered that Lionel had a bunch of 2-4-2's in the 60's that came with whistle tenders. #238, 239, 241, 243 and others. Seems like I forget that postwar goes up to 1969. I think of the 50's as the classic post-war stuff. Whatever you choose, good luck

I always liked this one -

1656 with a bell ringer tender. Has the operating front couplwer. I think all the 0-4-0's had operating front couplers. I think this one was before Magnetraction.

Then you have the pre-war 1688 which is a 2-4-2

And your basic 1120 Scout

I dont think any of the basic engines had whistle tenders. All were diecast. And i think Magnetraction were for the larger engines.

Looking at some of the smaller postwar steam switcher typically with 0-4-0 or 2-4-2 what are some standouts?

I would think diecast body?

Did any come with magnetraction?

Front coupler (operating or not) or 'pusher'?

Whistle tenders?

Any models with all of the above? Or most of the above?

Thanks
