It is easy to change the coupler if you follow the following steps:

1. Turn engine over and remove the four screws holding on the rear pilot(two on each side)

2. Remove the two screws holding on the rear scale coupler.

3. Attach the O gauge coupler to the same location.

4. Re-attach the pilot

I bought the K-Line Plymouth switcher in a set and what I did was to change the coupler on one of the ore cars.  Don't know about changing the coupler on the engine itself but would recomend using small tools and a magnifier glass.  Must have the right tools or you will go crazy

I have one and the scale couplers will mate with most of my Lionel style couplers.  I have never tried to change the couplers on mine.

Just got a K-line plymouth switcher and it came with scale couplers on it and working couplers in the box. Trying to figure out how to assemble the working ones and going NUTS It comes with a bracket and a little coil spring that just dosen't fit. The instructions tell about everythig but the couplers. Can anyone share a pic on how it goes together? If I use the scale ones will they work with my postwar rolling stock? I plan to use it in a yard moving cars around alot. Thanks for any help.
