When will the new Atlas steam eng. be out ? Your thoughts on this eng!

Just recieved an email from a Co. that sells these engines for a preorder & can save about a hundred dollars on this eng. I could only get it at income tax return in Feb. Just wonder if anyone knows when it is supposed to be available or ship out. I think this would be just great for my layout & wonder what the rest of you think !!

Thanks, John

Have not heard and we discussed at Miss Edna's today.  She is now Atlas dealer.  Will be a great buy when it comes.  You'll enjoy.  Good luck.

The estimated delivery date is April 2007 per the Atlas web site.

John,  If you want one, I advise that you preorder.  They only make what dealers preorder.  Some dealers order a few extra, but they normally don't last long.  I have a CNJ version ordered.

Thanks Chief & John !!  I ordered the PRR one, now the 6 month wait !! The fellow I ordered from said he's getting the CNJ version for himself ! Since these engines were in service in the 50s, I may have road on one once when I was little ! I think it's going to be a beauty when we get them !!

Thanks, John

Well boys, I think that it is a step to more wonderful steam locomotives from a company surpassed only by Lionel. Oh, and it is about time. LOL

John,

I'm even tempted to get one of these. I rarely buy anything new, but the Atlas looks amazing. Think I would go for the Pennsy as well. I bet it's going to have really slow speeds for doing switching and the drive gear looks great too. I think you made a good choice from the new engines being offered today.

Thanks Paul !! I sure hope you get one too !! Like John said, I think you have to preorder now or you may not be able to get one or the road name you want. They have it in undecorated also !! According to Atlas's site, it will have a lot of extra features !! The widows will move & a roof hatch opens, besides all the rest of the features !!

Thanks, John

Hmmm...I wonder if there will eventually be a NYC version?
