Williams 773
Posted by Mr. S. on Friday, November 10, 2006 12:58 AM
I just bought a Williams 773, the reproduction series and couldn't wait to open it.

Now I also already have a Williams reproduction 2056, and really liked the crisp paint job.  The 773 paint job, however, seems thick to me...there is no "Made By Williams" on the boiler plate up front, and the boiler riveting detail is soft compared to their repro 2056.  The NYC tender looks fine, though.

Is this a bad paint job, does anyone have one I can compare to?

I find it hard to believe a company making a repro 773 would not want their name on the boiler somewhere.  Williams has actually told me "they are all like that" and if I'm dissatisfied to return it to the dealer.  HUH?

Very confused, someone please explain.

Thanks!
