Nothing like this mentioned in the CTT review. Must be episodic.

I have bought MTH in the past and this does not sound like MTH.  I had no problems with any thing that I bought in the past but I will keep an eye out for MTH mistakes in the future if this is an MTH issue.  Normally MTH is a little more expensive than Lionel or Williams. My 2 cents [2c]

MTH 260E Tin Plate Issue
Posted by MartyE on Monday, November 6, 2006 6:23 PM
As reported on the other foum it seem that there are some paint issues with the 260E tinplate.  The poster reported that his was "touched up" with paint that did not match.  He returned it to place of purchase and the LHS owner found that 2 of the ones in stock were also touched up.  All were NIB from the factory.

Just a heads up...
