To celebrate "100 Years of American Flyer Trains" the Chicagoland Association of S Gaugers will host the 31st "Fall S Fest Train Show" Friday, Nov. 3 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tinley Park Convention Center at 18501 S. Harlem Avenue (just north of I-80).

It is the largest S gauge gathering in the world.

Free admission to the public displays, which will include over 5,000 square-feet of operating model train layouts, including a layout youngsters may operate. There also will be free outdoor train rides (Friday only) on Canadian National Railway’s “Operation Lifesaver” train.

There will be a 17,000 square-foot Trading Room to view and purchase modern and vintage American Flyer trains, as well as trains made by other manufacturers, collectibles, accessories, buildings and anything even remotely related to the hobby. One-day admission to the Trading Room for an entire family is $7.50. Convention registration, which includes entry to the Trading Room and seminars, is $15 for two days. You may register at the door.

The event is coordinated to celebrate the founding in Chicago of the American Flyer Toy Co. in 1907. The company’s factory and administrative offices were located at 2219-2239 S. Halsted
Street, and once employed nearly 1,000 people. The company manufactured O-scale "American Flyer" model trains to rival those of Lionel, as well as other amusements, games, and toys.
