You don't mention how "disassembled" the layout is.  That might help someone determine how much work and what skills might be needed to bring it back to life.

In the absence of more information, I'd suggest that someone contact a LHS.  They would be aware of other HO'ers in the area or even a HO club that might be willing to take on the project.  Maybe the former owner might be willing to pass along some names.

Beyond that, anyone who has built a layout in any guage should have most of the skills to help.  Two railer O gaugers should also have the wiring experience to help with that aspect.

Those were my thoughts exactly when I was approached about the matter.   I was told he has "retired" from the hobby and no longer wishes to be involved in it.

Why not ask the very kind gentleman who donated the layout for some help in re-assembling it? Who better than him to do so?

I already posted this message in the Model Railroader forums but thought someone in CTT might possibly find this of interest too...

A very kind gentleman from our town recently dismantled his HO layout and donated it to the town library for the general public to enjoy.  Volunteers at the library see this as an opportunity to create some public interest and draw people in- especially for the holiday season.  They would very much like to set up the lay out inside the library but unfortunately have no one on their staff who knows how to do it.  They are currently seeking someone who might be able to take the lead in getting the project started and giving them direction on how to procede.  I told them I am very willing to help work on the project, but I am a toy train collector/operator and have very limited experience and knowlege with HO trains.

I see this not only as an chance to do something nice for other people that will be enjoyed by hundreds of folks; but also a great opportunity to introduce people of all ages to the model railroading hobby!
