I own one of these locomotives and know virtually nothing about it. Can anyone offer some information on this particular model, more specifically value, and the year it was made.

Hello Eric!    The 8904 was a old design even in 1979 which was the year your engine came out on the market & they have very minimal value as well since many versions of your engine were produced in the postwar years & had the famous plastic scout motor in them also.Your engine has only a Can Motor with no rectifier in it to change the current from AC-DC & is a very basic bare bones engine. It's value is probably around $25.00 in decent condition if found at a train show or shop. Hope this helps. Take Care.
