Sophisticated Wiring Scheme
Posted by dwiemer on Saturday, October 21, 2006 6:17 AM

Kelly Shaw mentioned in the layout challenge about one layout having a sophisticated wiring scheme.  It occurs to me that we never seem to have real, usable data on the wiring of the layouts we see.  You may have information on benchwork (L-Girder, etc), or on what rolling stock or building structures, but never anything about how they wired the layout.  This is something that would be very usefull to me and perhaps others.  It would also be very timely in my case.  I do have the "wiring your layout" book, but it is somewhat limited.  I think with such people as Roy and Bob here, CTT could come up with some great material along these lines.

Two great sources of knowledge on the subject.  Will say that I have to ask Bob to speak "English" sometimes as I do not understand the technical verbage.  Then he "splains" it to me.  I have found you can contact either and they will be glad to help.  Both are great assets to the CTT forum.

I agree Chief, they are great to have around.  I just thought that CTT could save them a lot of trouble by showing a layout and how it was wired as well as the regular inclusions in the article.  The CTT Wiring book by Riddle is very limited when it comes to TMCC and DCS.  This would help a lot of folks out here in the real world.  Of course Bob and Roy could write an updated book on the subject, I know Bob is not into the command control, but between the two of them, they could fill a good volume and get compensated for their efforts.

True, of course the books were done years before TMCC let alone DCS.  There are Kalmbach publications that address modern wiring issues like DCS, e.g.
